Parenthood Theme Song Lyrics

Parenthood is great in so many ways, but it can be hard when you’re fresh out of college. In fact, the transition from college life to parenthood is so big that pop culture often portrays it as something that can’t be done.

Take the popular 1990s NBC show Parenthood, for example. The show follows the Braverman family in Berkeley, California, as they deal with many new issues (or “baggage,” as mother Camille Braverman calls it) after their children move back home.

Parenthood Theme Song And Lyrics

The show, which ran from 2010 to 2015 and was based on the 1989 movie of the same name, was praised for its honest and funny look at modern parenting.

A lot of TV shows and movies show how hard it is to raise kids after college, but Parenthood stands out because it shows both the parents and their grown children dealing with new responsibilities (and maybe even some regrets).

Parenthood follows Adam (Peter Krause), his wife Kristina (Monica Potter), and their two teenagers, Max (Max Burkholder) and Haddie (Sarah Ramos). It also follows Sarah (Lauren Graham) and her two teenagers, Amber (Amber McBride) and Sam (Sam McBride) (Mae Whitman).

Lyrics

When we were young
We were small but we didn’t know it aahh

When you were hurt
You would smile so you didn’t show it aahh

I can’t believe you’re mine
Can’t believe you’re mine

When we were young
We were brave we were wild warriors aahh

And you liked to race
So we’d run to the distant shores aahh

I can’t believe you’re mine
Can’t believe you’re mine

When the night came we would both say goodbye and go
But now that I’m older I’m sleepless outside your door
So let me in
I can’t believe you’re mine

Now we are tall
We are wise
We are tired of growing aahh

All of this time
You and I
How did we not know it aahh

I can’t believe you’re mine
Can’t believe you’re mine
Can’t believe you’re mine
